I've seen it done firsthand... There are a number of spells where I'm from that do precisely that. A charm or suggestion, you can make friends with an enemy just with a word and the proper spell.
That's what I'm worried about here, with how some of the people acted during this weekend. Even Damien...he said he chose to do it, but I think something might have influenced him and either he doesn't realize it or he's too embarrassed to admit that it happened.
