Very similar, yes, certain folds will allow the plane to fly just a little further or faster, it's all about experimenting and finding the shapes that catch the air best.

Mmm, not as much anymore. A bit too busy, but... when my sister was young, she rather liked this sort of thing. Sending things flying into the air. I'd work on little paper gliders with her from time to time if it meant she was learning here and there.
[ a chuckle ] It combined both our interests. Engineering and the desire to make things that inevitably crashed into walls and could be used as projectiles for our other brothers and sisters.
